This past weekend me and Ray actually got a lot done on our food storage. I had gone to the Lindon Cannery with Heidi in August, plus we had bought a lot of wheat, beans, sugar and rice recently. We had to take care of this food so that it would store for a long time. We went through all of our cans to inventory and organize what we had. Then we put the rice, beans and sugar in mylar bags and then in buckets. When I went to the church website to see how much food we needed for 1 year for three people, it said that we needed 900 pounds of grains and 180 pounds of beans. I added up what we had and we have 730 pounds of grains, and 174 pounds of beans. That does not count what is in our short term supply and in our pantry. We also have 4 kits that we got from Costco that is food for 1 person for 3 months with each kit. That puts us at a 1 year storage for almost 4 people. Then if you add in all the short term storage - we are well beyond that. It feels good to finally have it all organized.
