Moves to a New Office
I have worked in the Career and Academic Counseling Center (CACC) for almost 4 years. When I started we had a nice big lobby with couches, chairs, and a large conference table that students could use to study. CACC has grown so much that we had to add 5 cubicles, 2 more work stations or "offices" attached to the front desk, and we also had to divide our small conference room and make 2 offices out of it. In addition, our part time advisors all had to share an office with another part time advisor. We were bursting at the seams! So all of our lobby area had been turned into work spaces and the students had to sign in and then wait in the hall to see a counselor.
A year ago on July 1, 2008, Utah Valley State College became Utah Valley University. We also had a brand new library (digital learning center) that was finished and dedicated on July 1. This meant that the old library was now empty and would be remodeled and turned into office space. Extensive remodeling was done during the past year and 2 weeks ago we got the clearance to move in.
This is looking back into our old office from the front. If you can see the sign on the wall above the cubicles on the right, that is where our lobby went to when I first started working in CACC.

June 22, 2009 we began the move, while still being available and helping students. After the first week we felt settled enough to be comfortable for business. We now have a huge office with room for everyone, even the part time advisors have their own office, and we have 2 offices left to grow into. We also have a testing room, a work room, and a nice size conference room. We are on the 4th floor of the Losee Center.
This is the front desk as a student would see it walking into our office. I work on the right 1/2 of this huge desk. We joke that it is Dana & Susan's boat.
