Troopers Weekend
Part 4
Drums Along The Rockies
Denver Colorado
July 11, 2009
This was the day that Ray and I were planning to celebrate our 28th Anniversary (that was July 10th). We were going to go see some fun things in Denver and eat at Casa Bonita (a fun place Me, Heidi and my mom went to when we were in Denver for soccer tournaments) before Shaun's competition. I went to bed the night before with a headache which turned into a major migraine by the time I woke up in the morning. I spent the whole day sleeping until it was time to go to the competition. I felt bad that Ray just had to sit there and we didn't get a good celebration in. We will have to have a good date soon to make up for it.
We went to Drum's Along The Rockies that was held at Invesco Field at Mile High. It was huge!! and very impressive.
Troopers enter the field at Invesco Field.
The huge scoreboard announcing and showing the Troopers performance.
The Trooper's starting position's. Shaun is in the second cluster from the right (above the white mat). He is on the left side of that cluster sitting down warming his hands by the "fire".
Troopers have a great performance and had fun performing in such a huge stadium.
Troopers form a bow and arrow...
And it shoots.
Trooper's fans waving their yellow scarfs to support their favorite team.
Here comes the bucket from the judges up in the stands, with Trooper's performance scores.
Notice the Trooper's Drum Major keeping control of the field by coming in so slowly. The ones behind him sometimes don't quite know how to handle it because they catch up to him and then are stuck behind him.
All eyes are still on the Trooper's Drum Major.
Shaun came to sit with us after his performance. There wasn't room for him in the Trooper's section that we had tickets for, so we moved down close to the field to watch the rest of the corps. Shaun is still into having the Trooper's scowl....
But I did get a smile out of him before we left.

Shaun is kneeling in the circle, just to the right of the front.

Trooper's came in 6th place with a score of 76.2. They beat the Colts, which was the team they tied the night before. They are doing a great job. It was fun to see Shaun and to be able to spend the weekend watching him practice and perform.
