Jason and Carrie Harris
Wedding Reception
at
Nelson's Grove
July 30, 2009

The brides family at the wedding reception - The Turners Jennifer, Jim, Carrie & Jason Harris, Lisa, Kyle & Rachel.

Carrie and Jason's wedding reception was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. From 6-7 they had a reception line with the bride and groom and both sets of parents. Caterers took care of the food - they made fresh waffle bowls and had ice cream from BYU Creamery with toppings of fudge, berries and nuts.

These are a niece's and a nephew's babies at the reception. On the left is Jessica and Andrew's baby, Priya Louise (4 days old), and on the right is Bryan and Robin's baby Presley Marie (4 months old). It's amazing how fast they grow, especially when compared with a newborn.

Ryan and Brittania came and brought Braxton with them.

At about 7:00 Carrie and Jason cut the wedding cake,

And very nicely gave each other a piece.

Carrie Turner and Jason Harris...
Now Mr. & Mrs. Harris
July 30, 2009

Carrie and Jason got married in the Manti, Utah Temple at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2009. It was a nice sunny day with temperatures in the low 90's (rather than the upper 90's or 100's like it has been). The temple is beautiful and has a lot of pioneer history associated with it. They were married in the tower room, which has a beautiful circular staircase leading up to it. After the wedding ceremony Carrie and Jason came outside for pictures. Jason's grandma and grandpa were bringing the bouquet so Carrie could have her flowers in her pictures, and they were also bringing Jason's sister and brother, and Carrie's brother Kyle. After the ceremony, someone called them to see where they were. They said they were almost there, so there were no worries. We waited for awhile and they didn't show up. Someone called them again, and they said "we are in Price - now how do we find the way to Manti?" They had taken the route through Spanish Fork canyon (not through Nephi like they were told) and had missed the turn off at Thistle that leads to Manti. They just kept going, and going, and going. Needless to say, they never made it to Manti and ended up turning around and heading back to the Turner's house. It was too bad that 3 out of the 5 siblings didn't make it to the Temple to be in the family pictures. Other than that, the time in Manti was beautiful.

On the way home me and Ray decided to stop at the Moroni Turkey plant and buy some of their good turkey roasts like my mom used to get occasionally. As we pulled up to the turkey store, my dad was just parking his car. When we went in the Turner Grandparents, and Carrie's Aunt Karen and Uncle Ron Turner were there also. I guess everyone had the same idea.

After we arrived home there was only 1 hour to cut all the fruit and do final preparations for the wedding lunch. I volunteered to be in charge of it on the wedding day because Lisa should be doing other things and I didn't want her to have to worry about the lunch. Jason's Aunt, Sister and Grandma came to help and they were awesome in getting all the fruit cut up in record time. Sharon and Becki also came to give some help. Everything was done with about 5 minutes to spare. We had the lunch in Nelson's Grove which is the same place as the reception, but the lunch was off to the side so we wouldn't get the reception tables dirty. The lunch consisted of Chicken Salad Croissant Sandwiches, Fresh Fruit Salad, Vegetable Tray, Chips, bottled water with Crystal Lite packets that could be added to the water. Grandma Melba Turner and Sharon White really helped out in cutting the croissants and filling them when we were at Nelson's Grove. I really appreciated all those that were willing to help with the lunch. The lunch turned out nice.

Trooper Charlie
Photo Shoot
July 24, 2009

Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps that Shaun is a member of, had a request for families and others to send items to put on their "Inspiration Wall" during finals week in Indianapolis, Indiana. This tradition started many, many years ago when Troopers received telegrams to wish them good luck. They would all be put up on a wall for everyone to see and read. The tradition has continued, but has progressed to letters, pictures, posters, and what ever the fans think of to send. Ray and I decided that we wanted to make a poster with Charlie wishing them good luck, since many in Troopers loved Charlie when we took him to Denver with us to see the Troopers. We had a photo shoot with Charlie (with sausage as the bribery) the other day, and this top picture is the one we chose for our poster. We ordered a 16 x 20 inch poster and was able to include Love Mom, Dad and Charlie at the bottom right corner in yellow print to match the scarf. It turned out really nice. I need to get it in the mail for Shaun this week so it will get there in time to be on the 2009 Troopers Inspiration Wall. We have included some of his other pictures that were runner-ups, along with some bloopers.

Visit to Dad Walker
July 25, 2009

Saturday we went to take dinner to Dad Walker. He was growing quite the beard (almost caught up to Ryan) and needed help shaving it off. His beard was too long for the electric razor to handle so it needed a blade. When we came to his house we found shaving creme on the wall and on the floor. I don't think that Dad Walker could quite figure out the shaving creme can, or he was just having fun playing with it. Ray ended up giving Dad Walker a shave - he looked great after it was done.

Braxton was curious about what was going on.

Carrie at Timpanogos Temple
July 25, 2009

Saturday, July 25, 2009 family members went with Carrie Turner to get her endowments at the Timpanogos Temple in American Fork. It was a special day, and a hard day. It was special to have 3 out of my 4 siblings and their spouses there, and my daughter Emily came with us also. It was hard because my mom wasn't with us. It brought back memories of her wedding to Denmark because that is the temple that they were married in. I really missed her yesterday. It was a special day to spend with Carrie and to support her in taking this important step in life.
