Denmark & Sharon get Married

Denmark Jensen
&
Sharon White
The Newlyweds
October 16, 2009

Denmark and Sharon got married and hosted a dinner for family and friends. (Since Denmark is technically a step-dad, I wonder if that makes Sharon a Step-Step Mom?) It was held in the Hillcrest 5th ward building, the same place that Heidi and Scott had their wedding reception.

A Rainbow Day

A Rainbow After the Storm
October 14, 2009

We have been having a lot of storms the past few days. A few nights ago there was such a loud thunderstorm that it woke me and Shaun up at 3:00 a.m. It did weird things to our electronics. Our tv was trying to turn on by itself. (Ray's remote for his adjustable bed wasn't working after the storm). So, I got up and unplugged a lot of things, and then me and Shaun opened the blinds on the window and watched the storm for awhile. It was just too loud and noisy to sleep through. But it was sure fun to watch.

On one of the rainy days, we came home from work and Charlie was soaking wet and shivering from the cold. I think that Charlie must not be very smart, because he has not one, but two dog houses on the back porch that he could go in to stay dry and warm. I hope that he figures it out soon.

I went to pick Ray up from the bus stop and saw a beautiful rainbow. These pictures don't do the rainbow justice, but I decided to share them anyway. This was the view from our back yard.

The storm is finally leaving with a promise of some good weather

Jennifer's Going to Spain

Jennifer Turner
Gets a Mission Call
She is going to Malaga Spain
October 9, 2009

Jennifer was waiting for her mission call. She had sent in her papers a few weeks ago, and the Bishop e-mailed her dad on October 9 to tell them that the call was in the mail. They really didn't think that it would get to them that day. They checked their mail in the afternoon, and there was the envelope from The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jennifer was at work, and the family went to the movie that evening. Lisa didn't want Jennifer to come home and open her mission call without them being there, so Lisa hid it in her bedroom. After they got home they gave Jennifer her mail. They called the family for us to come over to watch her open it. Aunt Becki even came down from Sandy to watch the big event.

The guesses of where Jennifer would go.
Her dad got it right on.

Opening the envelope and very nervous

The letter must be in here somewhere

Jennifer was so nervous that she couldn't read the letter

Carrie had to read it for her

Jennifer has to read it for herself to make sure.

Jennifer is excited. Spain is one of the places she wanted to go.

The official letter
Jennifer leaves on February 10, 2010.

UVU President's Inauguration

UVU President
Matthew Holland's
Inauguration
October 9, 2009

Utah Valley University faculty and staff were invited to dress in their Academic Robes to participate in the Inauguration for President Matthew Holland. Some of the co-workers in my office decided to participate, so I decided it was a "Kodak Moment".

UVU Family Night

UVU Inauguration Week for
President Matthew Holland
October 5, 2009

Utah Valley University has had a new University President since the first of June. I guess it is time to make it formal and official. The school has activities all week to celebrate President Matthew Holland's Inauguration. Monday night was a family party with things to play on, and then we watched the Disney movie "Up". They showed the movie in the Basketball arena. It was a very cute and touching movie.

Shaun brought his friend Anastasia with him to the party, and they had a jousting match.

It was really hard to tell who won.

Anastasia was pretty sneaky by dropping her jousting stick so she could try to pull Shaun off.

Braxton loved to play in the balls that were at the bottom of one of the slides.

Braxton was too little to climb up the slides, and so Shaun put Braxton up as far as he could and then let him slide down. Braxton thought that it was lots of fun.

Time for the treats - I told his mom and dad that he would probably come home full of sugar.

Braxton thinks that cotton candy is pretty good stuff.

Grandma, I am done!

I gave him another piece to hold. He ate some of it and then couldn't figure how to get it off of his hand. It stuck pretty good.
